twilight in the most beautiful city

There are three things you should know about today:

1) I visited downtown Zurich for the first time today…

2) It is called “the jewel of Europe”.

3) I need more than a few hours to process this experience.  My soul was overcome with awe.

I have no words right now. It is the most beautiful city I have ever experienced … even that feels like too many words. All of the photo editing, the camera applications on my phone, to make the mundane seem extraordinary, all seem ridiculous to use here. Somehow I need to take it all in to know what to focus upon and simply let the images exist without my processing. I need to train myself to know where to look because, right now, i want to remember the grandness, the scope, when I should, perhaps focus on the details. But everything about this place seems camera worthy .. For this is a city that does not need anything from me … it is that … beautiful.

I took the tram (the train) for the first time today; as usual, I had mishaps. And I had conversations that I would love to share. But, it is late, and I have walked more than I am accustomed, and I am processing this amazing experience in a very insular way at the moment. For now … I leave you with a few images from my favorite time of day … twilight.

I will have more to say tomorrow … after my second trip into the city tomorrow.

My Dear, my favorite Lamplighter, have I told you how much I admire your Brave Soul? Your travelog of Zurich reminds me of the one and only solo trip I ever took. Once upon a time, in 1998, I followed my heart to Bebbington, (in Merseyside, a twenty minute train ride from Liverpool). I was 26, love-blind and foolish, but I was brave, though it didn’t dawn on me until many years later. I doubt I could be so bold these days, but I remember I once was.
Did you know just how brave you are?
Lots of hugs, and may angels fly you safely home to Mr. Bird and your beautiful girls. Much love, Dear Friend. xo

I’m in awe. What a beautiful place. I hope you’re scoping out the best places for when we all go. 🙂

My dear Shirley – Thank you for such a beautiful comment. Sometimes I feel rather lacking in courage. And sometimes, I stand back and watch myself as though I am watching someone else magically navigate this landscape. I too thought I had lost my bravery. You still have it. We would have both been in the uk in 1998 btw. 😉 We very well could have passed one another on a train going to and fro. Much love to you, always.
And Mr Bird … I am leaving much undiscovered to discover with you when we arrive here together. xo my love.
