Stage Fright

Do you ever have those moments, where, after much preparation, you get to the “day” and you chicken out?

I remember this happening to me so many times throughout my life – getting into my starting blocks in track and thinking, oh holy ever loving god, what am I doing here?, even though I’d just spent weeks training; or standing in the wings backstage before my entrance after weeks of rehearsals thinking, I don’t remember my lines, why did they cast me of all people? or … the list goes on and on.

Today, I had the welcome news that my readership has increased by a long shot. Hello and welcome to my new visitors, I hope you stay awhile, and come back often. But, this news has me shaken a bit. What a lot of responsibility… and more, what am I doing here? I forgot my lines, in my starting blocks …

It’s at times like these that I have to get out of my own way. I have to let go of the past, the fears, the doubts, the worries and just… take one step onto the stage. Let the chips fall where they may. Of course, this can be so daunting when in the back of your mind, you’re thinking: what if I fail? what if, if, if, if .. if.

I need to go to a 12 step program for those recovering from Life Stage Fright.

(more to come)

I love it! Aside from your story reminding me of that dream I have about being backstage as the curtain is going up and all of my props are gone, I adored it. And the jewelry is just wonderful. You’ve definitely found your niche. Speechless.
